I just found the following review of my new book:
Although Tomb tries to be unique with his new brand of horror, I can’t help but be distracted by the typical attempt to make teenage girls (who, may we be reminded, are not his primary audience) woo over a mysterious boy with supernatural powers. Really? While the horror elements are truly clever and one-of-a-kind, this Lark Cohen character that has popped up in three of his four novels now makes Tomb seem desperate to be the next cult hit. If protagonist Angela Beam ends up making out with Lark, I’m going to be sick.
This reviewer is completely misled. He fails to see the depth of the character. I can give you three reasons Lark Cohen is not Edward Fucking Cullen:
1. He’s not a love interest. He’s there to bring a new dimension to solving problems.
2. He’s not even that dark and mysterious. Okay, so he’s not human, but he doesn’t lurk. And he definitely doesn’t sparkle.
3. He’s real. Oh, yes. You heard me.

Anyone got any decent reviews for this book?
Dear Burbank,
ReplyDeleteChill out. Where did you get this review? Some random entry off Amazon? It’s not a big deal. I don’t always get positive reviews. It’s the nature of the beast. And besides, he’s probably right to some extent.
What do you mean “he’s real”? Be under no illusion that my work is, in fact, fiction.
