46. Welsh Signing

Quite a big crowd tonight! Nearly a hundred, I’d say, though Lenore says that’s a generous estimate. I usually read from the first chapter, but I decided to try the third to shake things up.

Let’s talk Q&A. The first two questions were about the book. But then something magical happened.

Q3: Is Burbank a real person?

I glanced at Burbank in the audience, but he made no move to identify himself. I asked if she’d been reading the blog and assured her Burbank was real. Others expressed their doubt in this matter. Burbank smiled to himself. I started to sweat.

Q4: Why do you let him write your blog?

Because I’m nice. This isn’t the answer I gave them, but it’s the reality. If you were there, you know what I actually said was “He’s an adult. I can’t control what he does.” That probably isn’t true. I’m sure I could control a good majority of the world if I believed in myself enough.

Q5: Can we meet him?

Burbank shook his head a little. He’s so modest. Not like me, traipsing around Europe with my name on posters.

  1. Dear Burbank,

Why do I feel like your secretiveness has nothing to do with modesty? I sense you’re up to something, as usual.

  8. Hi, Milo! Thanks for coming to the signing. I was the one with the dyed red hair and scarf. The brilliant dye job, not those bad home versions. I've got all yor books and read them over and over. "Traces" is my favourite. I know how she feels. I hope you come back for your next book. Can I get your books on audio? Do you read them? Did you ever think of having a contest for an Angela look-a-like for your book covers? Not that I don't like your covers, but doesn't Angela deserve a face now? Let me know where I can send a picture.

  9. Hi, Gwen! This is a wonderful idea. As Milo said before, he has no control over the cover design, but that's no reason not to hold a contest. Feel free to email me or Milo a snapshot at milohtomb@yahoo.com.

I liked Traces as well, but you should definitely try Countdown. As far as I know, only Sheltered is on audio so far, but the others will certainly be on contract for recording once Milo gains fame from this blog. If you enjoy the audio format, why not try out the audio of A Butterfly Tomorrow by Burbank Jammaker, read by the author?
