55. Missing Out

Three people spending the night in a car is rough. None of us could fall back to sleep after the tent incident and it was too dark and rainy to drive anywhere. Thankfully, Burbank was there to keep us sane by giving us his own versions of every nursery rhyme he’d been told as a kid. I’d never heard of some of them before. America’s children are missing out on all the good ones.

What’s your favourite nursery rhyme?

Humpty Dumpty used to be. Ricky Gervais has me rethinking it.

  2. Dear Burbank,

I think you left out the part where I clouted you with the travel kit after the third round of Three and Twenty Blackbirds. It’s my guess that we do actually have all those nursery rhymes (which were the main reason we couldn’t sleep), but your spin has contorted them beyond recognition.

I’ve always preferred Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein to the old nursery rhymes. Some of the originals are quite…dated. Racist. Sexist. I do hope Burbank’s versions were a little more innocent or I might have to clout him myself!
